Annual remembrance day at St Helen’s home

Recently, the Stocks Hall Nursing & Care Group, St Helen’s Home hosted its annual remembrance day. The home celebrates and remembers loved ones that have since passed, with a very special memorial service, held in the home’s gardens.

Friends, families and staff join together and fondly reflect during an afternoon of remembrance for their loved ones. IMG_1409Manager of Stocks Hall, St Helen’s Home, Julie Gaskell commented, ‘It was a great day to see so many friends and family, not only representatives of persons that have gone before, but families and friends of people currently living at Stocks Hall. Each and every person touches our hearts and Stocks Hall Nursing & Care Group had been given the wonderful privilege to care and share life and parting together. The remembrance service is one of my favourite events of the year. It is very purposeful and personal for all.’

Further speeches, reflective readings, flower placing and lighting of candle lights by children and adults, all contributed to making this event a very moving and meaningful experience for everyone.

Lisa  Gallagher, Advance Care Facilitator for St Helens who attended the event said, ‘I have worked closely with this home since coming into post four and a half years ago, over this time I have worked closely with them and witnessed then receiving Gold Standards Framework Accreditation. In this time, I have been exceptionally impressed with the care and dedication shown to their residents and their families and also the standards upheld within Stocks Hall St Helen’s Home. Any education that our team offer, Julie and her staff are the first to book onto it or ask for in-house training. Each time I have attended the home I have been welcomed and felt I was part of an amazing team.

‘I attend most of the care homes within St Helens, as part of my role, and provide education for them. Stocks Hall St Helen’s Home stands head and shoulders above them. I recently attended the memorial service…to say it was a fantastic day with a great attendance would be an understatement.

‘When I attend an exceptional home with a fantastic team, I feel it would only fair to acknowledge all the hard work and dedication that makes Stocks Hall a special place.’

Stocks Hall is delighted to give family and friends the opportunity to come together and remember their loved ones. The memorial garden at the home, in a very small way, lovingly honours the memory of the wonderful people who have previously lived at Stocks Hall, Denton’s Green, St Helens. The motto of the garden is the one used throughout the whole of the Stocks Hall Group: Every Person is Valued. This event is successful in demonstrating and expressing such a statement.
