Bunny rabbits have put a spring in the step of elderly care home residents after a visit from a Chesterfield pet store.
Pets at Home took a pair of rabbits to Barnfield Care Home, in Holmewood, for the residents to pet.
The visit brought back happy memories for Betty Fenner, who previously worked with young, physically disabled children.
Betty, who has dementia, said: “I organised bunny rabbits to come and see our children when I was working. Everyone loves petting a rabbit.”
Alison Riley, home manager of Barnfield Care Home, said: “The residents requested to see some rabbits after we contacted the store.
“The energy levels in the home shot up when they arrived as everyone wanted a hold.
“There were lots of smiles and the residents talked about their past experiences of looking after their own pets.
“We can’t thank Chloe, Frankie and Saffron from Pets at Home enough for fulfilling the residents’ wishes and bringing along the bunnies.”
