We carried out this inspection under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. This inspection was planned to check whether the provider is meeting the legal requirements and regulations associated with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, to look at the overall quality of the service, and to provide a rating for the service under the Care Act 2014.
The inspection took place on the 10 and 14 of March 2016. The registered provider was given 24 hoursâ notice because the location provides a domiciliary care service and we needed to be sure that someone would be at the office.
The inspection was carried out by an adult social care inspector. Before the inspection, the registered provider completed a Provider Information Return (PIR). This is a form that asks the provider to give some key information about the service, what the service does well and improvements they plan to make. We also contacted the local authority safeguarding and contracts team, neither of which raised any concerns. Tattenhall Local Care was previously registered at a different location, before reregistering at its current location in September 2015. As part of this inspection, we have also considered information from the serviceâs previous registration
During the inspection we spoke with five members of staff, including the registered manager, and a visiting social care professional. We visited two people in their own home and contacted four people by telephone. We also spoke with two relatives.. We reviewed the care records for four people and looked at the recruitment files for three members of staff, as well as other records relating to the management of the service.
