Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers to make safer recruitment decisions and prevents unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups. It replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).

Anyone employing a Personal Assistant is advised to carry out a DBS check on the personal assistant. You can be supported to do this by the direct payment support organisation.

For more information, please visit: www.gov.uk and search ‘DBS’.

Complaints, compliments and feedback

If your complaint is about a breach of regulations, contact the Care Quality Commission:

Tel: 03000 616161
Email: enquiries@cqc.org.uk
Website: www.cqc.org.uk

If the council has arranged and funded a place for you in a care home, another option is to complain to your social worker/care manager or the customer complaints team.

Healthwatch Wiltshire

‘Your voice is our voice!’

Healthwatch Wiltshire is a local independent service which exists to speak up for local people on health and care. Its role is to make sure that the health and care system in Wiltshire reflects what local people expect and need.

Healthwatch wants to make sure that the people who use these services have a say in how they are shaped and that their overall views and experiences are heard and taken seriously.

What does Healthwatch Wiltshire do?

Healthwatch Wiltshire:

  • listens to your opinions and experiences of Health and Social Care services;
  • feeds back your views to the people who make the decisions;
  • provides effective signposting and information about health and care; and
  • is independent from the NHS and other health and social care services so people can talk freely about whatever they like.

Healthwatch Wiltshire is out talking and listening to people of all ages, working towards changing Wiltshire services for the better. Get in touch if you have experiences or views to share about local health and care services.
