Supporting Social Care Providers across Essex, Southend and ThurrockEICA

Essex Independent Care Association (EICA) is an independent, voluntary, not-for-profit organisation which represents the interests of social care providers from Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.

Members include care homes, care homes with nursing, supported living and home care providers. Members provide a wide range of services working with older people, those with learning disabilities, and people with physical disabilities.

The Association offers members a range of services to help them support their service users:

Funding

  • distributing Workforce Development Funding (WDF) on behalf of Skills for Care;
  • distributing Southend Care Providers Fund which supports First Aid Training; and
  • free support and guidance on how to access funding.

  • a one stop shop for information on issues within the sector;
  • free Endorsed Training Provider details – find a trainer endorsed by EICA;
  • weekly E-News Round Up; and
  • an archive of useful information and key papers.

Information, advice and guidance

EICA supports the delivery of excellence in health and social care by offering FREE impartial information and advice on topics and issues such as compliance, workforce development, recruitment and performance.

Recruitment, selection and retention

EICA provides FREE information, advice and guidance to support the local social care sector with key issues around recruitment, selection and retention, etc. We also undertake research projects to identify local needs and influence local authority decisions.

Disclosure and Barring Service

EICA is a registered umbrella body for the Disclosure and Barring Service. Members benefit from a discounted rate for their staff DBS checks and EICA offers a personal, speedy and efficient service which supports care employers in their recruitment and HR activities.

Representation and influencing

EICA maintains strong links with all three local authorities and represents members’ interests across a wide range of topics. Over the last 12 months, committee members have been working closely with Essex County Council on a number of key initiatives and projects, including commissioning, skills development, recruitment, selection and retention as well as funding.
