Sutton-in-Ashfield’s newest care home, Kingfisher Court, has been officially opened this week by special guest, Rtd Ltf Col Keith Seddon MBE.

The home opened its doors to local care professionals, councillors and business owners, giving them the opportunity to view the brand new state-of-the-art facilities.

The purpose-built home, which is located on Kingfisher Way, will provide a home for 66 local older people requiring residential or dementia care. All residents will stay at Kingfisher Court on an all-Inclusive basis. Home Manager, Paul Quirk, and his staff team had already welcomed the public to view the luxury facilities during Easter weekend.

Kingfisher Court’s first resident Betty Banbury has already moved in and was joined by Joyce Langdon within a day or so. Both were delighted to be a part of the celebrations.

Prior to the ribbon cutting ceremony, Kingfisher Court presented Ken Bonsall with a cheque for £500 for the Lee Bonsall Memorial Fund after fundraising during the Easter weekend. Rtd Lft Col Keith Seddon MBE then cut the ribbon to officially open the home. He said “I am really impressed with the facilities at Kingfisher Court, it is like a five star hotel! I am sure the home is going to be an integral part of the local community – all the staff are very committed and I am very much looking forward to meeting more of the residents when they move in.”

Guests were treated to tours of the three storey home, which includes 66 bedrooms with en-suite wet rooms, a garden room, library, cinema, hair and beauty salon, landscaped gardens and English tea room complete with balcony areas. They then tucked into a gourmet buffet lunch prepared by the in-house chefs.

Paul Quirk, Home Manager at Kingfisher Court, was eager to show off the outstanding facilities to visitors. He said, “Everyone here at Kingfisher Court has enjoyed showing the community round our beautiful new home. We have a great staff team and unique facilities and we are all positive we can make Kingfisher Court a fantastic place to live and work. We are delighted our first residents have moved in so we can make a real fuss of them.

The brand new, purpose built home has been designed and built by LNT Care Developments and will be run by Oakdale Care Group – a small, privately owned company providing high quality care in outstanding accommodation, with the ethos of providing the best care, every day to every one.
