The Live Healthy Team at the council delivers a range of programmes and interventions across the city with a focus on promoting and improving health. The services listed below are examples of programmes provided by the Live Healthy Team. They are all free at the point of access. Stop Smoking

The Live Healthy Smokefree service is here to help you stop smoking. Stopping smoking is not easy but with our help you can do it.

Advisers are there to help you stop smoking whatever your circumstances. Even if you have tried before and not succeeded, please come to see us again.

Free NHS Health Check programme

The Free NHS Health Check programme is a public health programme in England for eligible people aged 40 to 74. If you wish to book a health check then please contact your GP practice.

Adult weight management – Let’s Get Moving

Let’s Get Moving is a free 10-week programme with two physical activity sessions per week. It is open to adults who are physically inactive as well as those living with long-term conditions.

Learning Disability Annual Health Checks

The Annual Health Check scheme is for people aged 14 and over who have been assessed as having a borderline, mild, moderate, severe or profound learning disability who need more health support and who may otherwise have health conditions that go undetected. People with learning disabilities who are known to their local authority social services, and who are registered with a GP who knows their medical history, should be invited by their GP practice to come for a free Annual Health Check.
