Learning Disability Services

Learning Disability Services

Bromley Community Learning Disability Team provides help and advice to residents of the Borough who have a diagnosed learning disability and their carers. Services are planned to help people live as independently as possible within the community.

The team works with each person to assess their needs and the needs of their carers and to arrange the most appropriate services to promote their independence and wellbeing:

• support in the family or client’s own home;
• Bromley Shared Lives Service;
• housing and support schemes;
• short breaks;
• leisure activities including day opportunities and clubs;
• education; and
• work opportunities.

If you are looking for information for a person with learning disabilities up to 25 years of age, there may be additional useful information on the Bromley Local Offer pages in the Bromley MyLife website (http://bromley.mylifeportal.co.uk). There is no charge for any advice, information, guidance or assessment of need. However, clients may have to pay towards the cost of some of the services that are arranged. The contribution towards the cost of these services will depend on the client’s individual circumstances. For further information or to request an assessment of need, please contact Bromley Social Services Direct on
