The head cook at HC-One Woodcross Care Home in Walsall has been announced as a finalist at this year’s Great British Care Awards, which are taking place at a glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Saturday 26th April 2014.
Wendy Woods is a finalist in the Nutrition and Hydration Award category. She has worked at Woodcross for over ten years, and was a care assistant before moving into the kitchen. As head cook, Wendy has proactively and smoothly introduced HC-One’s new menus, and ensures that there is also a wide variety of options for Residents to eat. Wendy is a versatile and caring member of the Woodcross team who always has Residents, and their nutritional needs, at the front of her mind.
Wendy’s nomination comes after she won the Nutrition and Hydration Award in the Great East Midlands Care Awards in October 2013.
The Great British Care Awards are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. Judging took place on 12th March 2014, when over 100 regional finalists from all over the country were interviewed. The awards ceremony on Saturday will consist of a campaign reception and a gourmet dinner before Jane McDonald (from ITV’s Loose Women) announces the winners.
HC-One Woodcross Care Home Manager, Jason Woods, said:
