With Christmas in their sights, tenants at Watling Court Extra Care Housing Scheme helped staff with their annual Christmas Fete, raising £800 for their future activities.

Tenants, staff and volunteers of the Ifield Way housing scheme gathered together on Saturday 2nd December, to host their annual festive fete, for all to enjoy.

This year, tenants Betty Ford and Beryl Hutchings ran the bric a brac stall and Win Siggers ran the tombola, with each stall taking nearly £100. Also for guests to join in with was guess the weight of the cake, guess the name of the bear, a raffle and an advent calendar game.

Tenants and staff very kindly donated to make some hampers for the raffle, with lots of Christmas treats that no-one could resist. A craft and flower stall were also on hand for those creative visitors looking to make something lovely for their homes or buy some unique gifts. Of course there were plenty of cups of tea and mince pies, as no festive event would be complete without those!

On the day itself they raised £800, with this figure still climbing until the raffle is drawn.

Helen Goulding, housing manager of Watling Court commented: “This is such a joyous time of year where all our tenants come together to get involved with plenty of festive events. Everyone put in a lot of hard work to make the event a success and tenants are still talking about that fun they had! I’d like to thank everyone who helped out or came along on the day.”
