Headingley Hall, one of the region’s most historic buildings hosted a community open day on Friday 16th June featuring live music, games, history talks and a baking demonstration from former Great British Bake Off (GBBO) contestant, Sandy Docherty.

The event was hosted by Westward Care, one of Leeds’ most trusted tailored care providers and showcased their Headingley Hall facilities to people across the region.

The Community Open Day opened with a singing performance by Rose Court Primary School before local historian and author Eveleigh Bradford gave a talk on the history and heritage of Headingley and the surrounding communities.

Speaking about the Community Open Day, Peter Hodkinson, managing director of Westward Care, said: “We’re delighted with the number of residents and local visitors who came along to support our Community Open Day. We pride ourselves on not only the sense of community we encourage and cultivate within Headingley Hall itself, but the impact that our staff and our residents have on our neighbours. We feel that maintaining a sense of community is a very important part of the work we do at Westward Care and these events are a fantastic way to showcase the beauty of Headingley Hall and it’s gardens.”

Westward Care’s two other locations across the region, Southlands in Roundhay and Pennington Court, Beeston also hosted their own activities as part of the community initiative.
