An exciting afternoon of baking and decorating cupcakes was on the menu for residents of Barnes Lodge Care Home in Tonbridge last week.
The group of enthusiastic bakers gathered in the dining room of the new Tudeley Lane care home last week, ready to embrace their inner chefs and enjoy an afternoon of cooking.
Armed with a table full of ingredients and plenty of aprons, the residents grabbed their wooden spoons and got stuck into making the cupcake mix, before handing them over to staff to bake. Once out of the even, the residents enjoyed decorating their creations with different flavours of icing and various toppings, before settling down to sample them with a nice cup of tea.
Nicola Newman, social activities facilitator at Barnes Lodge commented: “A number of our residents have a real passion for baking, as it’s something they would have done a lot for their families when they were younger. We keep that in mind as we really want them to continue with their hobbies when they move in with us.
“The group of residents had a great time getting stuck into the baking activity, some of them were even showing the staff what to do next. They particularly enjoyed trying their cakes with a cuppa once they were finished!”
