The Willows Day Care Centre were thrilled to receive the winning cheque for £500 from Asda Sittingbourne’s latest in-store green token vote. The cheque was presented by Claire Fosbeary, Asda Sittingbourne’s Community Champion.

Asda stores choose three local charities or causes to support in their green token scheme, where customers are given green tokens at the till that they can put in a box of their choice at the front of the store.

Pictured above, Asda Sittingbourne’s Community Champion, Claire Fosbeary handed over the cheque worth £500 to a very happy gathering of clients and staff who were ecstatic after winning the green token scheme. The voting started at the beginning of June lasting up until the end of August, with the Willows taking an early lead as shoppers began to vote.

The money will be used to help improve the garden and outdoor area for those who attend The Willows.

The Willow Day Care Centre (known affectionately as The Willows) is an established day centre specialising in dementia care.

The Willows is located in the grounds of Avante Care & Support’s care home, Court Regis and is open seven days a week from 9am until 4pm

The centre provides a safe, bright and relaxing atmosphere for people living with dementia. The team of qualified and attentive staff provide opportunities for its members to interact socially and encourage participation buy levitra line you in stimulating activities.

The centre welcomes referrals from social services, mental health teams and G.Ps, as well as direct private referrals.

Attending day care services helps to relieve loneliness and boredom for people living on their own and assists people in maintaining independence whilst providing respite and peace of mind for their families.

The Willow Day Care Centre staff group get to know each person as an individual and provide person-centred dementia care.

Jeannette Spooner, Centre Manager, says ‘The Willow members attend from all over Swale, coming from many different backgrounds and of varying ages and abilities. It’s always lovely to swap stories, and hear of everyone’s adventures!

We provide a variety of activities including Reminiscing, music, exercise, quizzes, word games, memory games, board games, Snooker, Darts, the Wii, baking, memory exercises and lots more.

We also encourage participation in everyday chores such as washing up, laying tables – or simply relaxing with a newspaper!’
