Lifelong Nottingham resident, Doris Cavers, celebrated her 102nd birthday this week at her home in Bulwell. Doris resides at Fairway View care home on Swale Close, and the home ensured that her birthday was one to remember.
Doris was joined by her family and other residents as they enjoyed music from a local accordion player before tucking into a luxury buffet lunch and homemade cake in the tea room.
Doris, who was born in 1914, has seen many historic events, including two world wars. She was employed by a local lace factory for most of her working life and has fond memories of a much loved dog called Bruce. Doris says her recipe for a long life is down to ‘minding her own business’ and having a giggle. She looks forward to her three niece’s weekly visits and likes to relax by listening to the radio.
Doris has lived at Fairway View since May and has already forged great relationships with staff and other residents. Emma Johnson, Home Manager at Fairway View, explained “We were all really excited to celebrate this milestone birthday with Doris and we wanted to make sure the day was perfect for her. Everyone joined in with the party and had a great time! Doris said she was thrilled to be able to share her special day with everyone here at Fairway View.”
Fairway View, which is operated by Ideal Carehomes, provides residential and dementia care to 41 local older people.
