OverallRead overall summary
We carried out this inspection under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. This inspection was planned to check whether the provider is meeting the legal requirements and regulations associated with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, to look at the overall quality of the service, and to provide a rating for the service under the Care Act 2014.
This unannounced inspection took place on the 19 and 20 November 2015.
The inspection team included one inspector. Prior to and after the inspection, we reviewed previous inspection reports and other information we held about the home including notifications. Notifications are changes or events that occur at the service which the provider has a legal duty to inform us about. Before the inspection, the provider completed a Provider Information Return (PIR). This is a form that asks the provider to give some key information about the service, what the service does well and improvements they plan to make. We used the information on the PIR to inform our inspection.
During the inspection we spoke with five staff including the registered manager and Acting Care and Supported Housing Contracts Manager. We were not able to speak with the people who lived in the home due to their communication difficulties. We spoke with two relatives. We carried out observations of care and reviewed documents associated to peoples care and their medicines. We reviewed records related the employment of staff and audits connected to the running of the home.
