OverallRead overall summary
We carried out this inspection under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. This inspection was planned to check whether the provider is meeting the legal requirements and regulations associated with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, to look at the overall quality of the service, and to provide a rating for the service under the Care Act 2014.
This was a comprehensive inspection. This inspection took place on 28 March 2018, 11 April 2018, 13 April 2018, 25 April 2018 and 8 June 2018 and was announced. We gave the service 48 hoursâ notice of the inspection visit because the location provides a domiciliary care service. We needed to be sure that the registered provider would be in. The inspection team consisted of one inspector.
We used information the provider sent us in the âProvider Information Returnâ. This is information we require providers to send us at least once annually to give some key information about the service, what the service does well and improvements they plan to make. We also reviewed information that we hold about the service such as safeguarding information and notifications. Notifications are the events happening in the service that the provider is required to tell us about. We used this information to plan what areas we were going to focus on during our inspection.
We spoke with 12 people who used the service, three relatives and friends, four members of staff, the registered manager and the serviceâs Business Operations and General Manager. We reviewed six peopleâs care files and four staff recruitment and support records. We also looked at a sample of the serviceâs quality assurance systems, the registered providerâs arrangements for managing medication, staff training records, staff duty rotas and complaint and compliment records.
