Overall
Good
Read overall summaryWe carried out this inspection under Section 60 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 as part of our regulatory functions. This inspection was planned to check whether the provider is meeting the legal requirements and regulations associated with the Health and Social Care Act 2008, to look at the overall quality of the service, and to provide a rating for the service under the Care Act 2014.
The inspection took place on 4 and 11July 2017 and was unannounced. The inspection team consisted of an adult social care inspector and an expert by experience. An expert-by-experience is a person who has personal experience of using or caring for someone who uses this type of care service.
Before our inspection visit we reviewed the information we held on Mountford. This included notifications we had received from the provider, about incidents that affect the health, safety and welfare of people who lived at the home.
We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experiences of people who used the service. This included speaking with nine people who used the service and four relatives. We spoke with eight staff members. We also engaged with members of the management team including the registered and deputy manager, senior nurse and an organisational assistant director of operations. During and following the inspection we received information from four professionals involved with the service.
We looked at elements of three peopleâs care records and other records which related to the management of the service including, audits and quality assurance systems. We observed care and support and used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. We viewed three staff recruitment, training and supervision records.
