St Faith’s provides the highest standard of dedicated, 24-hour, individually assessed nursing care for 69 residents, including those with complex needs or dementia.

The home, a characterful refurbished Victorian villa, is located close to the centre of Cheltenham.

St Faith’s is part of the Lilian Faithfull Care group. Lilian Fathfull is a charity with over 70 years’ experience of caring for the elderly in Gloucestershire with five care homes and two community day centre hubs. We Provide exceptional affordable flats, assisted Living, residential, nursing & day care. As a charity we put care before profit and are therefore able to operate differently from commercial care providers.

Our care team:

Our care comes from the compassion, understanding and knowledge of every member of staff. It is easy to assume that it is only the carers who ‘care’ but in Lilian Faithfull Care homes all our staff – carers, nurses, chefs, housekeepers, activities coordinators, laundry, maintenance teams and managers – work in a holistic team to look after our residents. We see it as fundamental that all staff have an understanding of the various challenges residents may face, and this is why we have a comprehensive induction programme and provide continuous training and development opportunities for all staff.

Dementia care:

Throughout our charity we are focused in offering the practical care and emotional support to help people cope with the loss of memory, and give ongoing advice to family and friends. Our ‘dementia care leads’ and teams of dementia link workers ensure that our staff are up to date with the latest training and understanding of dementia. Our homes are subtly adjusted to ease common practical challenges when living with dementia, such as suitable signage, use of colours and appropriate tableware, to give a secure and safe environment.

Home cooking:

Our home cooking is a priority across Lilian Faithfull Care, and plays a key role in both;

  • our care of residents; ensuring a nutritious diet
  • giving quality of life; ensuring our meals are a highlight of the day.

We are delighted that last year we made it to the final three in the national Care Home Awards for ‘Best for Nutrition, Food & Dining Experience’ run by Care Home Management magazine and Care England.

Activities:

Each home has an activities coordinator who organises a wide ranging programme of trips and activities daily. We are keen to tailor the programmes to the interests and hobbies of individual residents. We have in-house activities such as gardening clubs, crafts and exercise groups. Invite a wide range of speakers and musicians into our homes to give talks, recitals and performances. Have our own weekly ‘bus service’ to support residents to be as independent as possible and link our homes together. Local schools and colleges who regularly visit our homes. And for those who stay in their bedroom, either by choice or due to ill health, we work to find things they enjoy on a one to one basis. This might be playing a board game or reading to them.

Families are always welcome to be involved in as many of our activities as possible and we are always open to new suggestions and ideas. Our facebook page is full of photos highlighting a variety of activities from around the homes. View them here.

Home environment:

Each home sits within its own beautifully kept grounds and gardens. We encourage residents to enjoy these as much as possible, whether through enjoying gardening, or in the many seating areas provided. We take great pride in providing the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance throughout our homes, ensuring they are always clean, fresh and well maintained.

Listening to residents and their families:

All our home managers have an open door policy and always welcome the opportunity to discuss care with residents and their families, whether in person, by phone or email. We also have a number of other different ways in which we gather the thoughts and suggestions of residents and their families.
