Opened in March 2017, The Lakes Care Centre offers compassionate, individualised residential, dementia, respite and Day Care for up to 64 residents.

The specialist home environment has been designed to enhance the quality of life of people living with dementia and incorporates a number of features to promote reminiscence as therapy.

About the Home
Every resident has access to a comfortable and homely household living area, including a beautifully furnished lounge and sitting room, kitchen and dining room. From spacious bedrooms, a few with lake views, with stylish en-suite Ôwet roomÕ bathrooms to the thoughtfully landscaped gardens, The Lakes Care Centre offers an outstanding home environment.

ResidentsÕ can enjoy the social activities going on every day in the central communal areas including a hairdressing salon, coffee shop, outdoor terrace and cinema/entertainment room. The comfortable garden lounge and coffee shop on the ground floor are a perfect place to meet family and friends.

The location of this new home has been carefully chosen. Close to Cotswolds Water Park, its waterside position will promote an atmosphere of calmness and tranquillity. South Cerney is a beautiful Cotswold village surrounded by lakes and countryside, with all the benefits and amenities of Cirencester, Õthe Capital of CotswoldsÔ, just a stoneÕs throw away.

Food and nutrition
Our professional cook and kitchen team pride themselves on offering a delicious and varied selection of home-cooked meals. Catering for individual dietary requirements and preferences and using seasonal produce whenever possible, they are careful to ensure best nutritional value too, so you can be sure of enjoying tasty, well balanced dishes every day.

Activities
The dedicated Activities Coordinators are there to make life as stimulating and varied as possible, they work with the residents to shape the schedules of activities by holding regular meetings and questionnaires with the residents, here is an idea of activities they might organise:

Trips to the local gardening centre
Birthday party
Visit from a calm and friendly dog
Board game competitions and quizzes
Keep fit
External speakers, including Oxfam and Guides Dogs

With so many well-being activities for body and mind, we also recognise that everyone needs some time to honour their spirit with relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection. The cosy lounges and dining areas offer an opportunity to socialise with friends and family or join in larger social events, but you will also find places to enjoy peace and quiet.

Community and Family Events
Friday Coffee Morning: 10.30am Ð 12pm.
Knit2gether: every Thursday 10.00am – 12.00pm. A group led yarn-based activity for all abilities.
GentÕs Club: every 3rd Monday of each month 10.00am – 12.00pm. For those with memory problems.
Sunday Lunch Club: every 1st Sunday of each month 11.30am – 2pm, lunch is served at 12pm. £5 per person, lunch is followed by games, quizzes and entertainment.

How to find us
The Lakes Care Centre is situated in South Cerney close to Cotswolds Water Park, south east of Cirencester. From the south-east direction take the A419 towards Cirencester and come off at the B4696 exit signposted to Ashton Keynes, South Cerney and Cerney Wick.

At the roundabout take the first exit onto the B4696 Spine Road East and The Lakes Care Centre will be on your right just after the bridge over the Thames & Severn Canal, opposite the Cotswold Water Park Information Centre. We have an easily accessible car park on site.

From the Gloucester direction take the A417 towards Cirencester and then onto the A419 towards Swindon. Exit at the B4696 turning to Ashton Keynes, South Cerney and Cerney Wick and follow signs as above.
