Day care services

In partnership with voluntary sector organisations, Bromley Council provides day care services at various day centres in the Borough. Day care services aim to meet the key care needs of older adults living in Bromley who meet our eligibility criteria for adults and are:

  • physically frail
  • disabled
  • socially isolated
  • showing early stages of dementia
  • experiencing mild mental health problems

Specialist older people day centres – dementia
MindCare – dementia support centres provide care during the day up to 6 days a week. There is a focus on offering stimulating activities in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The 3 centres are located in the Beckenham, Orpington and Chislehurst areas. To find out how MindCare please contact 020 8663 0499. MindCare staff will be able to talk through your needs and arrange a visit to see one of the dementia support centres.

The Garden Room Dementia Café is a relaxed and informal meeting place for people suffering from or closely affected by dementia. For more information contact Age UK Bromley on 020 8315 1850.

Day centre facilities for older people
In Bromley there are 5 day centres providing opportunities for older people to take part in activities outside of the home whilst also providing a break for carers. You may be able attend these centres even if you do not meet the Council’s eligibility criteria – please contact the centres directly for more information.
