There are a lot of myths and misconceptions about dementia. To help raise awareness of the condition and provide information on local services for people with dementia, Warwickshire County Council has led the development of the Coventry and Warwickshire Living Well with Dementia information portal.
The Portal is a one stop information website for anyone wanting to know more about dementia services and support available in Coventry and Warwickshire. The portal is divided into sections relevant to different audiences, for example people with dementia, carers, or professionals, and provides information about dementia and its symptoms, seeking a diagnosis, how to access services and support, Dementia Friendly Communities and reducing the risk of dementia.
Dementia Navigators Service
This is for people diagnosed with dementia and/or people seeking a diagnosis, and their families, living in Warwickshire. Dementia Navigators provide information and advice, practical and emotional support, and signposting to local support services or training in dementia awareness. Dementia Navigators can also support carers of people with dementia, for example, by helping them to develop coping strategies. People can self-refer to the service, or be referred from memory clinics or health and social care professionals.
Dementia Navigators Service is provided by the Alzheimer’s Society Warwickshire.

Warwickshire has also pledged to become a dementia friendly place to live that is inclusive of the needs of people with dementia. We are encouraging organisations and businesses to support our dementia friendly pledge and many local organisations are now formulating their own action plans which outline what they will do to become more dementia friendly.
