The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found the quality of care provided by Robert Owen Communities – Domiciliary Care South Devon, in Paignton, to be Outstanding following an inspection in October and November 2016.
Inspectors rated Robert Owen Communities – Domiciliary Care South Devon as Outstanding for being caring and well-led, and Good for being safe, effective and responsive to people’s needs.

“Robert Owen Communities – Domiciliary Care South Devon provided exceptional care that was tailored around people’s preferences and wishes.
“We were delighted to see how people were placed at the heart of the service and how a positive culture and ethos ran through all aspects of the service.
“It was encouraging to see how the service supported people with a wide variety of needs. Staff found innovative ways to support those who had communication or physical challenges or learning disabilities and made sure their needs and views were listened to and acted upon.
“The team should be extremely proud of the work they do. I congratulate the staff at Robert Owen Communities – Domiciliary Care South Devon for achieving our highest rating.”
Robert Owen Communities – Domiciliary Care South Devon planned their services around people’s individual needs, and people were involved in decisions about their care and the running of the service. Staff found innovative solutions to support people in reaching their ambitions and to maintain their independence. Staff also gave their personal time to help people develop new skills and to take part in activities within the community.
People were supported to manage a healthy lifestyle through good community healthcare and medical support. This included nutrition plans and attending health classes.
The service celebrated staff and people’s achievements and successes. People organised an annual event that recognised and awarded staff who went ‘above and beyond’ expectations and, in turn, staff nominated people using the service who had made significant achievements in the last year.
