Residents of The Dynes in Kemsing enjoyed an afternoon river cruise along the winding River Medway, courtesy of the Rotary Club.

With the sun shining and our British summer in full swing, the keen sailors headed out from the residential care home, ready for a day sailing down the River Medway.

The residents boarded the Kingfisher boat, which is specially equipped for older people and those with disabilities and enjoyed a picturesque cruise, taking in the nearby sights and soaking up the sun.

Along the way, the residents stopped to feed the ducks, whilst some of the residents even helped to open the lock gates throughout the cruise. Once they had worked up an appetite, the boat made a stop for lunch, so they could enjoy their picnic whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings.

Kay Hawkins, activity coordinator at The Dynes commented: “The residents had a wonderful afternoon and we were very lucky with the weather, we’d like to thank the Rotary Club for accommodating us.”

Organised by one of the resident’s daughters, the residents all had a wonderful time aboard the Kingfisher boat and another trip is already planned for those residents who couldn’t make the first voyage.
