Residents at Greenacres care home, are launching a ‘snowflake shoutout’; by asking local children to design and create beautiful snowflakes to help them decorate their home over Christmas.

The snowflakes can be drawn, painted or crafted and will be used in the home to spread Christmas cheer to all.

With everything that is going on with the current pandemic, I think it is fantastic that the team have come up with such a fun and creative idea to spread some Christmas joy around the community. I can’t wait to see all of the submissions; Christmas time brings me so much joy and I know the children’s snowflakes will look beautiful all around our home!’.

Greenacres resident, Sheila Matthews

Lifestyle Manager and the person behind ‘snowflake shoutout’, Jessica Skirrow, hopes that the decorations will bring joy to the residents. As residents will miss their usual festive visits from local school children singing carols and performing nativity.

‘It is more important now than ever to get into the community Christmas spirit, and this is such a lovely activity to do at home with the kiddies. Our team and residents have joined the ‘hype’ and put our tree up early, so it got us thinking of fun ways to involve our local community in our festivities and this felt like the perfect way! I look forward to seeing what creative snowflakes we receive in the post!’.

The closing date for sending snowflakes is the 11th December. All submissions can be sent directly to the Meltham home with a note detailing the artists name, age and what they think ‘Christmas spirit’ means to them.

To get involved all postal entries can be sent to Jessica Skirrow at Greenacres Care Home, Huddersfield Road, Meltham, Holmfirth, HD9 4AG.
