Alcohol/drug misuse

The Drugs and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is responsible for commissioning and co-ordinating a high-quality substance misuse system across Shropshire. Working as part of the Safer Stronger Communities Partnership, the team aims to reduce the harm caused by substance misuse to individuals, their families and communities.

The Shropshire Recovery Partnership is a partnership between Active, Rehabilitation, Counselling and Health (ARCH), a charity dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of disadvantaged and vulnerable people, and Addaction, one of the UK’s leading and largest specialist drug, alcohol and mental health treatment charities. The partnership provides a one-stop treatment service. The service is located at Crown House in Shrewsbury and is also based at hubs in Oswestry, Whitchurch, Ludlow and Bridgnorth. Slips, trips and falls

There are lots of simple things you can do to help stay steady on your feet and to check your own strength and balance you can take this simple test at home:

Shropshire libraries – Books on Prescription

Books on Prescription (BOP) is a scheme offered by Shropshire libraries, in partnership with Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group, where GPs ‘prescribe’ self-help books to their patients. Books have been carefully selected by health professionals and complement local health services.

The books cover a wide range of common topics including anxiety, anger, depression, self-esteem, stress and worry. There are also books for people living with dementia, people caring for someone living with dementia, or those who want to find out more about the condition.

The books are also available for anyone who is a member of the library without having been prescribed it. Talk to your GP if you would like to know more or visit for more information about local libraries.
