Home Instead Senior Care in South Devon has been crowned ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), just two years after opening.
CQC inspectors praised the Paignton-based home care company’s ‘strong emphasis on providing care with compassion, respect and dignity.’ Comments from clients included: “They are friends. They are human. They are lovely.”
This marks the 18th outstanding for Home Instead Senior Care across the UK, more than any other care company. Only two per cent of home care providers inspected have been awarded the coveted ‘outstanding’ rating, making this a truly impressive achievement.
Husband and wife team, Peter and Mercedes Hughes set up the office in 2015, inspired to launch a business because of the experience of poor care given to Peter’s family.
Determined that ‘there had to be a better way,’ they came across Home Instead Senior Care and were so impressed with the company’s unique approach to care which focuses on people’s social as well as physical needs, they decided to set up an office serving the Torbay area.
Commenting on the outstanding rating, Peter said, “Setting up a business is a big step and we are immensely proud that in two years, our service has been deemed to be outstanding by our industry’s regulator. It’s even more impressive when you learn that only two per cent of home care services have achieved this highest rating.”
Home Instead’s managing director, Martin Jones said, “The genuinely caring approach taken by the team in South Devon shines through in their inspection report. It is clear that their team of wonderful CAREGivers go above and beyond on a daily basis to improve their clients’ lives; providing them with highly personalised care.
“I am proud that Home Instead has been awarded more outstanding ratings than any other care company – well done to Peter, Mercedes and all the team in South Devon for adding the 18th.”
