Today, Florence launch the National Care Force – a volunteer-led response to coronavirus’s threat to our care services.
There is a strong likelihood that a high proportion of the UK population could get #coronavirus in the next year.
Staffing gaps caused by illness will strain the already-stretched social care sector, whose services are needed more than ever to protect vulnerable people.
As a solution, Florence, the online platform that connects care homes directly to nurses, have set up the National Care Force. A UK-wide collective allowing healthcare professionals and volunteers to work vacancies across social care.
Anyone can join as a volunteer, regardless of work background; whether you’re a care professional (doctor, nurse, physio, carer) or simply a volunteer wanting to help your community.
The system will match users with available roles. From non-clinical work such as picking up shopping for those self-isolating, or providing in-home care such as cleaning and laundry, to care professionals who can apply for shifts covering clinical staff rota gaps in a variety of care settings.
Care providers can post shifts including care homes, home care and local authorities.
