A care home based in Aldringham near Leiston has been rated as ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), following an inspection into the quality of service it provides.
Aldringham Court Care Home, which is part of the Healthcare Homes group, was inspected in June and has now received this positive grading.
The CQC is the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. It makes sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care.
Inspectors visited Aldringham Court in an unannounced visit and spent time speaking with staff, residents, the relatives of residents and the registered manager. They looked to determine whether the service delivered at the home was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The home was rated as ‘good’ in all five areas.
The home centres its care provision around kindness and respect towards its residents and inspectors noted this, stating, “People were relaxed in the presence of staff and the management team. Staff knew people well including their preferences for care and their personal histories. Staff were caring and respectful in their interactions and we saw people laughing and smiling with them.”
Care at the home is entirely ‘person-centred’. It is tailored to each individual’s medical needs, but also to their likes, dislikes, preferences and hobbies. Inspectors recognised this, noting that “People’s care records were personalised to include information about them, such as their hobbies, interests, preferences and life history. This included instructions for staff in the care plans on how best to support people, and took account of their needs, choices and preferences.”
Manager of Aldringham Court, Tracy Cumby said: “I’m delighted to read such a glowing report from the CQC. The team here works incredibly hard to create an environment which our residents can call home and which we can be proud of.
“Choosing a care home is a very big decision for people, and their loved ones, so we want everyone who chooses to live at Aldringham Court to be happy, comfortable and confident in the care they receive.
“We will continue to build on this, working with our residents and their families to provide the very best standard of care.”
