Tenants at Watling Court got together on Friday 10th June for an afternoon tea party fit for a queen, to commemorate Her Majesty’s 90th birthday.
Accompanied by staff, friends and family, tenants gathered in the communal dining room at the Ifield Way extra care housing scheme, for an afternoon of food, fun and games to commemorate the Queen’s birthday.
Staff had decorated the dining room with plenty of themed bunting, balloons, flags and tablecloths; they also handed out hats and masks of the royal family, which the residents had a lot of fun with.
Throughout the afternoon the residents sipped on tea, whilst indulging in some classic favourites, including finger sandwiches, scones, cupcakes and Bakewell Tarts.
Whilst taking their tea, they enjoyed reminiscing about their memories of the Queen’s reign and how they used to commemorate the royal celebrations during their younger days.
Helen Goulding, scheme manager of Watling Court said: “There really is always something going on here at Watling Court, as the tenants are always up for a party.
“Everyone had an excellent afternoon and there was a brilliant atmosphere in the air. We are a community orientated organisation, so whenever we have our celebrations, it’s always great fun, a real family affair!”
