Beautiful building and surroundings but don't be deceived. I am sure that most families have good experiences but sadly I didn't. My mother was asked to leave on her birthday as she has dementia and they couldn't cope with her. Selecting her 94th birthday was somewhat insensitive. My mother eventually found a place with proper care for her dementia needs in Devon. All too often, I would phone on behalf of my mother to speak to my father and the home were either too busy or short staffed to take a phone to him. No point having a land line in his room as he couldn't see or hear it. I attended my father's brother's funeral in April. I arrived 3 hours late as there was a tube strike in London and wasn't allowed to sit with dad at lunch but could wait elsewhere. I then had a six hour train journey back home to Cornwall with train cancelled at Plymouth. I was unable to share all the family news and tell my father about the previous day's events. I did send an e mail to the home but communication poor. My father was moved from the home just after this so probably why I didn't get a response. A pity an exception wasn't made for me as I had come such a long way to see him and would have loved to have shared a meal with him. The other issue is staffing and the massive turnover of staff members. You deal with one member of staff who leaves and then questions get unanswered. The home I am sure is great for people who are fit and healthy so really not sure why my parents were accepted. Beautiful rooms, communal areas and gardens but need to maintain

My father-in-law is a resident of Beaconsfield Heights and we are so happy with the level of care that he receives. The staff are always very supportive, helpful, friendly and caring. The atmosphere is always so welcoming. Thanks for all you do.

Seemed good when we looked round, however the communication has been terrible. Called several times to try and book my mum in for an assesment, was constantly told someone would call me back and they never did. Eventually I was asked to put all my mums care needs in an email and send it over. I tried again to follow up by phone but nobody ever replied - felt like they decided my mum’s care needs were unsuitable for them, which is fine but I would have appreciated someone simply telling me that rather than being ghosted.

From the first phone call to Beaconsfield Heights I felt reassured by their caring approach, efficiency and the advice they were able to give about dementia care. When we visited we were immediately impressed by the happy atmosphere and variety of well-planned and appropriate activities. Leaving your home is a hard decision to make and so Mum opted to try an initial month’s respite care. At the end of that month she had no hesitation in staying. The staff are unfailingly cheerful and I feel that Mum is genuinely happy there and making the most of this stage of her life, despite her memory loss. I have no hesitation in recommending Beaconsfield Heights.

Such a wonderful atmosphere and the staff are always caring and compassionate. Dad is very happy there.
