Currently have a neighbour in Kent house, not local to me but try to get in twice a week. So far so good. I do feel that staff interaction with residents could be better.

We took my mother in law here for a two week respite stay. The room looked nice and people seemed nice. But we can’t ask my mother in law sadly as she has dementia. However, she DID lose her teeth which will now cost us £400. So better care should be taken, as we believe she must have put them on her tray and that probably ended up in the bin.

The Care home has a high standard of cleanliness and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. I can't thank you enough for the way they look after their residents including my dad.

AVOID! On 13.10.22 my father was placed at KENT HOUSE! This carehome is for Dementia patients, my father does not have dementia. He was placed there for temp 2wks only BUT ended up being 3 awful months! This review page only allows short reviews so I’ve had to shorted my original review…which I will be submitting to the appropriate dept! A extremely poorly managed establishment. Never any Managers around to speak with to address matters/help. Staff do not relay info when doing handovers. I ended up chasing doing their jobs for them ! The general staff look miserable and fedup and again that’s down to poor management of this establishment…ie,. Manager(s) No regular diabetic checks 3months later despite registering with district nurse. MEDICATION!!!! Out of stock on many occasions, my father went without his meds for 3days on a few occasions, I would have to chase it for them to then call 911. FOOD!!! Awful. We spent a lot of funds in Tiffin delivery service and take outs. HEATING!!! stops working, bare in mind these were winter months oct-dec’22. Neglect!!! My father had diarrhoea and after informing several staff multiple times for a entire week, nothing was done! Ignored - my email complaint against a senior staff member was ignored! Smell - was absolutely awful… the 1st floor is very very bad…very strong Urine and excrement smell. You need to wear a mask! Bedsheets - not changed regularly even upon my fathers request. I’d often walk past other patients rooms on my visits and clearly saw non-clean bedsheets! The above are just a few major points! I was a regular visitor 2-3x per week. This place doesn’t like you to point out errors or complain! They are professional at two things only! ‘Blaming others’ and ‘excuses/lies’. My father was very unhappy here…starting to look depressed at each visit! I was constantly in touch with my fathers social worker to get him moved asap, it took 3months but we got there in the end! To our joy On 05/01/23 I was able to move my father to ‘SANCROFT HALL’. Only 2days worth of medication was provided from Kent House and some meds missing. My concerns continue for the patients at Kent House. None of the above is acceptable and I cannot stress enough my disappointment in the lack of care and professionalism at Kent House. Poorly managed and neglect! I would absolutely NOT recommend this place for your loved ones! Kent House and Sancroft Hall are worlds apart! Sancroft is an extremely professional, welcoming and caring establishment. My father is very happy and my stress is 100% reduced. I cannot speak highly enough of the management team at Sancroft the Manager is very warm and approachable. Kent House management need to take note of how a carehome should be run!

My elderly mum stayed here for respite care and the staff took great care of her. I would happily use this place again for respite care. Although the decor is a little tired and could do with an update.
