At Maesbrook Care Home in Shrewsbury, we believe our residents should feel at home and not in a home. A genuine ethos of warmth and respect is at the heart of our service, Maesbrook is a care home providing residential and nursing care for the elderly in a home from home environment.

We are proud that our residents are individuals with their own life stories. We work alongside them to protect their sense of identity and ensure they feel supported and respected at all times. Our caring, local and highly experienced team is dedicated to maintaining consistently excellent standards in every aspect of care we provide.

We are therefore very proud to receive high performance ratings by the CQC. As well as round-the-clock care from our dedicated and professional nursing staff, we also have dedicated palliative care nurses on staff, accompanied by an in-house physiotherapist and visiting chiropodist. Whether it’s a light and airy bedroom or a spacious and comfortable lounge, we maintain the highest standards of hygiene. Of course, the safety and security of our residents is a priority. Our state-of-the-art Medicare radio nurse call system means residents can contact our team at any time of day or night, without disturbing other residents.

We also believe that memorable events, cultural experiences and the opportunity to socialize all form a key part of providing a stimulating and engaging environment for residents. We offer a regular programme of activities, both indoors in our communal spaces and outside in fresh air. Residents can access as many or as few of these events as they wish. There are also lots of safe and tranquil spaces to enjoy their own space and time alone; such as our peaceful, wheelchair-friendly landscaped gardens and spacious conservatory.

In the kitchen, Maesbrook’s head chef and cook create delicious dishes incorporating nourishing, wholesome food with a high nutritional value. We cater to the individual preferences and dietary requirements of all our residents. Our kitchen is consistently awarded the highest possible inspection rating of 5 stars. My partner was at maesbrook for 4 months last year and she definitely wants to go back. The carers were incredible it was like a family and she didn't want to leave, thry welcomed me also. Her whole recovery from hospitals and illness was made so much better by being there. This time her health has been the worst it's been and she's really hoping to go back for respite to recover properly and I really hope she can. She misses everyone and misses the food (Tony's Chips) out of 4 places she's been in she says maesbrook was the best for her

I recently had the pleasure of visiting my grandmother at Maesbrook Care Home , and I was extremely impressed with the level of care and attention provided. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and it was clear that they genuinely cared about the wellbeing of the residents. The facilities at Maesbrook were excellent. The rooms were spacious and well-maintained, with plenty of natural light and comfortable furnishings. There were also plenty of communal areas, including a lounge and dining room, where residents could socialize and relax. One thing that really stood out to me was the range of activities and programs available to residents. there was something for everyone. It was clear that the staff went above and beyond to ensure that residents were engaged and stimulated. Overall, I would highly recommend Maesbrook Care Home to anyone looking for a safe and welcoming environment for their loved ones. The staff are truly exceptional, and the facilities and programs are top-notch.

First view of the place was good, staff seemed lovely, good amenities, well decorated, my 4th visit was quite upsetting. I was talking to my mother on the phone in the morning and I said that I was coming to visit and a carer overheard and said that I will need to book an appointment in the future but because she knew we were coming that she would put our names in the book. When I got there a lady said that are names weren't in the book and told us to make an appointment in the future. Later that day I was helping my mother update her banking details because her support worker hadn't and a nurse came in and told me I'm not allowed to deal with her finances, she then spoke to the manager and he confirmed my mother has capacity and that I was allowed to make take her card away, even though I didn't want to take her card, I was just using it to update her bank on her new address and Mobile number. They made an assumption on what the catering staff said after coming into the room for 5 seconds instead of asking what I was doing and whether my mum was okay with it. They made me feel like a criminal just for helping my mum. I completely get protocols and trying to protect my mother but they went around it the wrong way.

I called up to inform them that I was worried about my mother who had been left for a considerable amount of time with a burst colostomy bag. I was shouted at straight away, told that she was lying and that because mum had alerted them during a handover and that she was told they were on their way. However, I had been on the call for around 20 minutes with my mum (who called me upset she had already been waiting for a long time) before I eventually called Maesbrook to see what was happening. I'm very upset at being shouted at, and talked over when raising my other concerns, including items of hers that had gone missing. Again the Jamaican lady told me this was incorrect without even asking my mothers name once. To be treated this way as a family member, I can only imagine how the patients are treated. Additionally, this isn't the only time my mother has been left with a burst colostomy bag, covered in her own excrement. When we visited her previously, she was left for over an hour needing a change, and on another occasion over one hour thirty minutes. We tried helping her, but without knowing where her changing items were,we could only help so much.

When my 80 year old father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and Dementia, we wanted the best for him. I found the care home to be very clean and well presented, with very courteous and professional staff.
