Waterbeach Lodge is a stunning, purpose-built care home situated on the A10 Ely Road, less than 6 miles from Cambridge City Centre. The home enjoys views over the countryside and is set in six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.
The original site was established in 1818, becoming a Convent for Nuns of the Carmelite Order in the early 1900’s. From the 1970s onwards the property has had various uses, eventually falling into disuse before being lovingly rebuilt as our impressive, modern and welcoming care home.
Located in the quiet village of Waterbeach, just a few miles north of the historic city of Cambridge, Waterbeach Lodge is a purpose-built residential care home known for its blend of modern facilities and a warm, “home-from-home” atmosphere.
Unlike traditional clinical settings, Waterbeach Lodge focuses on a “hotel-style” aesthetic, with the architecture and interior designed to be accessible, light and airy, with plenty of communal spaces where Residents can meet and converse, partake in daily activities or simply enjoy the views of the wildlife that frequent the extensive grounds in which the care home stands. The top floor is now dedicated to dementia care, where the large, low-sill windows allow residents an elevated perspective of the gardens and the surrounding Cambridgeshire landscape.
Stepping into our reception area, there is a country house hotel feel to the lobby with reception desk and seating. From there, move towards one of our lounges or the dining hall, with comfortable seating and plenty of natural light, or choose one of our quieter zones, like our library, tucked away from the larger lounges and offering a sanctuary where you can sit comfortably with a good book, engage in a game of chess, or once again enjoy the splendid views. Alternatively, find out what’s happening in the hobby room, or indulge yourself at our hair and beauty salon.
