Having visited quite a few care homes prior to Mum going to Coxbench Hall (CBH) there were several things that instantly stood out about CBH - The friendliness of every member of the team to both residents and visitors - the happiness of the residents, there are always activities going on - there was (and always is) a genuine feeling of how much the residents welfare and happiness matters. Importantly to me there was no and never has been that ‘care home smell’ which the majority of care homes I viewed had. The food is lovely and the residents are very well catered for by the award winning chef (check Facebook)and having eaten there myself, once being unplanned and other times at the themed meals, I can honestly say the food was great. You only have to look at the homes Facebook page to see all the activities and entertainment both within the home and trips out in their minibus, which the residents can take part in (many available to families and friends) and how happy everyone is. A care home where these two words sum up CBH CARE - in abundance HOME - it’s each and every residents home rather than somewhere they reside. I know my Mum is well looked after and enjoying herself (trust me she’d say if she wasn’t) I have used the term residents but family is a more appropriate word because when someone moves in, they and their family become part of the CBH family. Thank you CBH for everything you do.

I first visited Coxbench Hall in 2023. Around the same time I visited a total of ten care homes offering a variety of levels of care. They were all very different starting with the building and surrounds, the attitude of the management and staff, and just the general feel of the location. I would highly recommend visiting several care homes to find one that suits. As a care home Coxbench Hall stood out in the local area, as the place that would suit either of my parents, who had both lived in Allestree for over 60 years. I was particularly impressed by the approach of the Coxbench Team throughout my first visit (still under covid restrictions), also the number and variety of activities each week, ‘something for everyone’! My first impression has not altered. Dad moved to one of the four ‘independent living’ apartments in April 2025. This has included a period of time in the care home. The Coxbench Team are kind and caring, and always go the extra mile. Dad has wanted for nothing to ensure he is comfortable in the surroundings, which includes the stunning gardens. In addition to the weekly activities there are regular events and outings. Dad has been on the mini bus for a day out on a river boat on the River Trent. I have attended the Christmas Lights Switch On event. Another highlight is the monthly themed meal, which includes themed music, the staff dressing up and of course the food and drink to match the event e.g. Après Ski. The energy and commitment of the Team is extraordinary. This family run care home is just that ‘for the Coxbench family/residents and the care is excellent, ‘nothing is too much trouble’. As a family member, when I ask a question, I get a positive and professional response. Living in Cambridgeshire, I know Dad is comfortable and safe, where he wants to be in Derbyshire. My final endorsement for Coxbench Hall. I went to school in Duffield, and my school friends and their parents highly recommended this location.

My Dad, who has Alzheimers, has been coming for adhoch day care at Coxbench Hall for several months. He thinks he's volunteering there and the staff go out of their way to make sure he feels needed, giving him manageable tasks and activities to occupy him. This is on top of the timetable of events and activities which take place everyday. The welcome is warm and genuine, the home cooked three course lunches are delicious (he surprisingly often remembers what they've had) and the grounds are immaculately kept. He loves the mystery tours out on the minibus and as a family we love knowing Dad is safe, very well cared for and content for the day. There's always smiles and laughter from staff and residents alike and nothing ever seems to much trouble.

A family-run and well-established residential care home. Set in beautiful grounds and woodland in the heart of the Amber Valley with Parking. Good links to Derby city centre. A dedicated care team with well-run accounts and administrative support. Home cooked food varied menu. I would highly recommenced for anyone looking for a residential home in an elegant/period setting.

I would just like to say how disappointed I was at the lack of empathy and compassion after my mum passed away. I received no phone call or card to say how sorry they were. I think they all need training in this area when a resident passes away. I used to visit 3 to 4 times a week so they knew me well as I did them. It's sad to think that money is obviously the most important issue here.
