No Place Like Home is a highly personalised, private companionship and care service for senior residents living in Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable, Faversham, Sittingbourne and all the surrounding rural areas.
It was established by local Kent resident, Dr Alison Carter, in response to challenges experienced by her mother, Leslie, in sourcing high quality, tailored support and care at home for husband, John. Our role is to help our clients be prepared for and to make the most of later life, focusing on quality experience and enjoyment. At No Place Like Home we carefully craft our support around each individual’s wishes – this might include escorted trips out as well as help in the home or, if needed, personal care. We are also able to provide respite care at home, recuperative support following a spell in hospital or end of life care.
We are always delighted to receive visits from prospective clients, friends and family to explore how we might be able to help. Of course, we can also come out to visit prospective clients in their own homes if they are unable to come to us. We especially welcome clients living with dementia. Our company’s specialist dementia trainer provides our staff with creative tools and techniques to help our clients live well with dementia from the early onset to the later stages of the condition.
No Place Like Home is a member of Kent’s Dementia Action Alliance and a founder member of the Faversham Dementia Action Alliance, which are working hard to improve understanding of dementia in Kent. Managing Director, Alison Carter is also an active Dementia Friends’ Champion, raising awareness locally about the condition and nationally in her role as media volunteer for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
